Full Circle and then Some

So Autumn has rolled around again... or is it Winter now? One minute you’re hiding inside from the scorching sun, staked out in front of a fan and the next you’re shuffling through layers of fallen leaves and wondering where on Earth you put your woolly hat. The seasons seem to dash by in a hurry, or is that just me?

Anyway, I was in the midst of the most important job of the season - bulb planting, this week and I realised it has been a full year since I decided to grow flowers to sell. I remember making this decision, it was like a lightbulb moment really (why not just do it? Just give it a try!) and then I started dashing about, trying to buy bulbs, quite last minute, so that I would have something to sell in the early Spring. I remember thinking, as I pushed them into the ground, that they would be my first crop. It is a good job I did plant them actually because, despite my own low expectations of success, my first orders started to come in at the end of February, in time for Mother’s Day and I could have kissed myself for buying those last minute bulbs!

This year, I have done a bit more careful planning in regards to my bulbs and I am SO EXCITED to see them pop up next year. We have chosen some gorgeous varieties of Daffodils and Tulips, which you won’t get in the shops. I can’t wait to show them to you.

In the meantime, we are gearing up for the final phase of our first year of flower growing - Christmas wreaths! You can pre-order one with us now, for collection or local delivery from the 1st December. We will be making them using our own fresh foliage as well British grown foliage sourced from elsewhere and we will be decorating them with our own dried flowers.

I think I am extra excited (and a little bit nervous!) about creating the wreaths, because as I said, it does mark the end of our first year as flower growers. Planting the buljbs this week, we have come full circle, but following the wreaths, we will have come full circle ... and then some.
